Andie sat swirling in the void before appearing on a putting green. The short grass stretched on to the horizon. About fifty feet away was a white flag stick topped with a yellow flag which billowed despite the lack of breeze. Helena appeared in a waft of cigarette smoke. She took a long drag as she peered around.

"What's up weirdo?" She mused in a playful tone.

"N-nothing..." Andie responded.

"Wow, they've really done a number on you, haven't they? Feel sorry for you kid, fortunately when you gain my demons; a little shyness will be the least of your problems." She held her cigarette in her hand as she spoke. Andie could see scars from cutting on her wrists but they were mostly hidden by twisting tattoos. She threw down her cigarette which had some black lipstick transfer from her painted lips. She stomped it out and whisked her hair out of her androgynous face.

"You will each have a chance to putt. Whoever is closest to the pin when the ball stops rolling wins."

A putter appeared in each players hand. Andie's was a solid dark brown, his favorite color. Helena's putter was a soft pink. She looked at it in disgust and took up a putting stance behind a nearby ball which had appeared. Andie had no knowledge of how putting, or golf in general worked so he was happy to see Helena hitting first. Helena examined the curvature of the surface and took several practice swings before winding up and striking the ball. It blasted off her club and rolled towards the hole. It began to slow down as it neared before coming to a stop approximately three feet from the hole. It was a damn fine shot!

Andie gulped as he approached his ball. He had no clue how hard to hit the ball or where to aim. He knew it was a one in a million chance that he would get closer than Helena. She seemed to think it too because her face had a knowing smile. Andie remembered back to the egg race and how Helena cheated. Then it hit him, "...when the ball stops rolling..." It said nothing about number of hits, just that the ball couldn't stop rolling! Andie hit the ball softly once then twice then three times. He chased the ball down after each his, making sure it never stopped moving.

Helena shrieked, "Hey that's cheating. You're cheating you little prick!"

But Andie didn't care, he wanted to keep his sanity safeguarded from this goth bitch. He continued to move and soon found his ball was closer than Helena's!

Once his ball lhad stopped rolling, Droctor Grungot's voice sounded, "Well done Andie! Clever use of game mechanics. Looks like little miss sunshine got beat at her own game. You'll have to step up your game, Helena, if you want your demons exorcised."

Helena's face contorted in a fit of blind rage and she started screaming, "This is far from over freak! I'll cut your fucking balls off and eat them in front of you! I'll rip out your tongue and chop it into pi-" Her voice faded out as the scene disappeared.
